The Hibbert Group is pleased to announce that the SmartWood Program of the Rainforest Alliance has certified us to FSC Chain-of-Custody standards. The Forest Stewardship Council™ is a nonprofit organization devoted to encouraging the responsible management of the world's forests. FSC sets high standards that ensure forestry is practiced in an environmentally responsible, socially beneficial and economically viable way.
Independent, certification organizations are accredited by FSC to carry out assessments of forest management to determine if standards have been met. These certifiers also verify that companies claiming to sell FSC certified products have tracked their supply back to FSC certified sources. This Chain-of-Custody certification assures that consumers can trust the FSC label.
Chain-of-Custody refers to the complete process by which wood is transformed from a tree in the forest to a final product provided in a wholesale or retail market; e.g., from the forest, to a sawmill, to a processing facility, to the marketplace.
The Hibbert Group has been multi-site certified by SmartWood. They will conduct annual audits to ensure that products carrying the SmartWood or FSC logos are actually produced with materials from FSC-certified sources.
Chain-of-Custody certification is another initiative in The Hibbert Group's commitment to sustainability.
